Liner replacement scheduling procedure:

Most of the time, the cost is the same as listed on the price sheet. Additional labor fees and considerations are listed below. The homeowner is responsible for all parts. After 2 or 3 years, the plastic parts become brittle and need to be replaced. After 3-4 years the metal part can corrode.

Backfill: If the pool is buried, remove the dirt from around the outside of the pool. Above ground pools are not design to support this weight when empty.

Drain the pool. If your pool is above ground, use your vacuum hose as a siphon and drain the pool. Pierce some small holes into the old liner to drain out the last bit. If the pool is in the ground and you think you may have a high water table, use a sump pump to drain the pool.

Look for wall rust. From outside the pool, cut down the liner and inspect the inside of the wall for rust. Focus on the area around the skimmer and return jet holes. You can sand and paint any surface rust. Small holes can be covered with “coil stop” aluminum and duct tape. “Coil stop” can be purchased in the Home Depot roofing section. Large holes require a new wall.

Buy Parts. Required: liner, skimmer face plate, skimmer, return and main drain gaskets.   Possible: coping, cover plates, top rails, hoses, filter sand, main drain face plate, new screws, hose clamps and PVC.

Order Sand: 20% of liner replacements require additional sand to fill cove washouts or recover the pool floor.

Deck: Remove deck boards in the way while unscrewing the pool’s top rails.
